Scene stealer on the Porsche stand
is the latest incarnation of the
911 Turbo (right),
this with a 3.6 litre turbo-charged engine (flat-6 as always)
producing 309kW and driving a 6-speed manual gearbox and
a four wheel drive transmission.

Rover's return
to Australia is in the shape of the
Rover 75
saloon, powered by a 2497cc V6 engine.
The Connoiseur model (au$60,500) has leather trim and walnut
"everywhere".
The car is of medium size with
good interior room and reasonable leg room in the rear seats.

but only have the current

on the stand which is looking quite dowdy compared to the likes of the

Rob Hulls, the Victorian Minister for making things,
tries to convince motoring industry representatives that
the Melbourne Exhibition Centre should be called Brack's Shack
since Labor's election victory.
There are risky times ahead for manufacturing -
car firm mergers, GST, changes in world trade.
He made much of the (Vic' built) Toyota
Avalon
sedan, launched
at the show, and of the Access-II fuel efficient demonstrator vehicle
being built locally for a world tour from ~May.
