In a clever piece of marketing, the name of what was the 4WD Field Day, is now the Victorian 4WD Show (perhaps suggested by the National 4x4 Show series). However, the location (Wandin), and the basic theme (120 commercial exhibitors, free demonstration rides, etc.) are basically the same.
Breakfast, for exhibitors
and organisers who have camped out overnight, or indeed for
early arrivals, can be had at the Scout's kitchen -

Brown Davis fuel tank, this one for a GU Patrol might cost you about au$680+/- take-away. Brown Davis push the point that they drop-test their fuel tanks from 9 metres, with fluid, as required by ADR for car manufacturers' tanks, but not for after-market ones. Apparently B.D. are also doing the tanks for ADI's Bushmaster APC and high-speed tractor. |

3-door 'cruiser troopy conversion by Polans (tel: 9794 0626) will set you back about $4200+/- for the door +$250+/- for an engineer's certificate. It's a fibre-glass door, felt very solid, and fitted the lines of the vehicle beautifully. Polans say they have done 45 conversions in the last two and half years. |

You could hear the LP-gas convertors
rubbing their hands together from miles away as they
anticipated petrol prices of $1.00 per litre, as forecast for mid 2000.
Victorian Autogas' conversion of a Toyota
100-series
costs about $2700 and includes a rear-carrier
for the repositioned spare wheel.
A Nissan GU Patrol
conversion costs about $2100.
Interestingly they advise against LPG conversions for the Ford
Explorer
just yet because the LPG units have not caught up with the
twin oxygen sensor technology used on this vehicle. |
